Work is well underway on the construction of a New Roman Catholic Church for Diss. After spending nearly 60 years at premises in Stanley Road, Diss, which were originally only built for ten years of temporary use, comfort issues and a growing congregation have led to the Catholic community deciding to move.
The new Church, which will include a priests flat, will also be used as a community centre, with full disabled access and WC facilities, a kitchen area, meeting rooms and the central worship / congregation area which can seat 270.
Although the Church will be a thoroughly modern building both in construction techniques and in design for use, it will include the installation of 4 stained-glass windows, owned by the Diocese for some years, which are currently undergoing restoration in preparation for installation in the new building.
